One of the first items that we have acquired from its manufacturer is the Precision Auto Reel (HT). The model used fits the 113H Penn Reel. Assembly of the system was relatively simple. The manufacturer supplies a new star drag handle because the drive assembly and the stock star drag handle would interfere with each other. After removing the handle and drag knob, spinning on the new star drag handle, and the adapter that fits on the drive shaft normally holding the handle, you have to remove three of the side plate screws. The stainless steel conversion frame is placed in position and new longer screws (supplied) are installed. Using 4 1/4-20 3/4 inch stainless bolts, the motor assembly is bolted to your reel. You need to install a polarized plug to fit the outlet you plan on using or install alligator clips on the ends of the wire BUT makes sure you do not cross positive and negative leads at the battery. IF you do, it could tear up your reel, the drive or both.
Initial tests of the reel drive took place in late May. Linda used the reel while deep dropping off the east coast near the cones. She really doesn’t enjoy bottom fishing in tall water due to her arthritis problems. It takes an major effort for her to retrieve a 24 oz. sinker from these depths with a conventional set up. I would say that anyone whose wife objects to cranking heavy weights from deep water or has a similar physical condition as Linda, get her a Precision Auto Reel!! It will make a huge difference for you both.
Once she got used to the position of the rod and reel while waiting for a bite, it was no problem for her to reel up after getting her bait stripped. She actually found it to be a good experience topped off with catching an AJ in the 25-30 pound range. She broke a sweat but it wasn't from pain.
We headed to Alaska in July. I looked forward to using it against some of Alaska's deep water fighters. I used it often, as did several of the client's on board the charters. Naturally a few macho types made fun of using the electric reel but when we started dropping 24 ounces of lead down 400 feet, it soon became apparent who the 'smart fox' was. When they actually caught a fish using it, they never said another negative thing.
The "HT" model I was using can pull just about anything up from the depths in short order. I do not know its maximum pulling power but it was not near the point of being bogged down anytime I used it. Look at the size of the halibut in the picture and you will see that the reel can really pull some monsters up!!

The location of the retrieve button and the sealed motor assembly are very comfortable to use. Although the unit adds weight to your setup, I found that when in a position comfortable for jigging, the entire assembly is quite balanced. It was used all day without any additional effort because of the motor's weight. When fighting a fish, the weight was never an issue.
